This was Western Townships Utilities Authority’s first collaborative delivery project, and it chose the progressive design-build (PDB) model to enable owner input on the design and foster a true team approach to the project from inception through completion. The PDB model allowed the team to evaluate alternative design ideas and choose the one that worked best for the owner’s needs.

Northeast Flow Control Facility (MI)

This project created the necessary flow control capabilities to isolate the water treatment plant for major renovations in the future. Water from other plants will be able to be used with the bypass created off this project when this plant receives a major overhaul.

The Northeast Sewage Pump Station (NESPS) had been in service for over 60 years and its pumping and electrical components were becoming obsolete. All the existing equipment was well past it’s expected service life, so it was crucial that this project and its different phases were planned efficiently taking schedule into consideration and keeping the pumps operational during construction.

The first, Bartram Water Main, was designed and constructed to resolve capacity and pressure issues in a fast-developing service area in Jacksonville, FL. The second, Cecil Field Water Main, was designed and constructed to replace an aging 24-inch line that had been susceptible to failure and outage.
