For nearly 30 years, Paul has been helping engineering and contracting firms identify their differentiators, build stronger brands, improve their marketing strategies, and become more successful in winning work. Paul has been in a variety of marketing and business development roles for five national engineering firms, including Boyle Engineering (now part of AECOM), Camp Dresser & McKee (now CDM Smith), Brown and Caldwell, Carollo Engineers, and Garver. For Carollo, Paul spent more than 14 years as national marketing manager, corporate communications manager, and social media manager. For the past three years he has been president of the Flick Strategy Group, providing marketing and business development support, training, and technical writing services for engineering and contracting firms.

Since 2021, Paul has been helping the WCDA with communication and outreach efforts, serving as editor-in-chief for the 6th Edition of the Water and Wastewater Collaborative Delivery Handbook and as technical writer and editor for a variety of other WCDA publications.
